morning tea and humpty lumpty

I was lucky enough to have a cuppa on Friday with lots of lovely ladies at Nikki’s morning tea.  Bloody great to meet some bloggers in person.  To be honest lately I have done more real-life crafty catch ups than the online variety so it was very special to meet some new people and be inspired to trawl around in cyberland.  See you all there.

And here is Humpty Lumpty - this is the name the girls have decided on for this little one until they get here in december

They came with us to the scan and they are very excited. We are now almost 16 weeks and my belly is getting lots of attention.

Last Friday, I impersonated a domestic godess and all round top notch kinder mum and got a few things together for the kinder fete cake stall.  The toffee apples were defo the feather in the cap and I reckon they’ll be showing again sometime soon.

White Lightning

Driving home last night (11pm), there was a white late 80’s celica type car in front of me going sooooo slow but almost taking up two lanes.  To myself, I say, “what’s going on - this guy’s been at the pub”.  When it was safe to overtake, I pulled up in the lane next to the car and had a quick glance - this frail, grey-haired old man was putt-putting along in this sports car - the best bit - on the side of the door were printed the words - “WHITE LIGHTNING”.  I nearly wet my pants….

long drives

I am playing along with pip’s words and pictures - this week it’s a long drive

Gone are the bell street days – we now have links for the city and beeping grey boxes

Best stop at malmsbury bakery for one of those mean mcmean sausage rolls

Through tiny weeny taradale

Flick, flick for a new radio station

Some apples at Harcourt – remember to get the “no fruit fly” sticker

Mustn’t miss that turn off before bendigo

These days we stop just the other side of marong – I miss you

Bridgewater on Loddon where I’m sure cafés used to masquerade as pubs but they must have gotten help, Inglewood and the blue eucy

Sometimes the wedderburn oppie is worth a quick browse and the playground for a run-around.

For some reason my Dad wanted to spend a new years in Berriwillock – maybe he called it half way

Must be time to check out the Charlton comfort station – do you need to fill up?

Did you know catholics don’t eat ham on good Friday?

Watch for the cops at wycheproof.  Does anyone still climb that mountain with a sack on their back?

Dry dry dry to the lake with no sea but tigers during winter.  HOT HOT coffee, slides and a stretch

A small town with a large lamington and a visit to the Queen Bee – she’ll satisfy hungry bus loads, or quench the thirst of your kid or your car.  Does she still have crunchas?  Can’t leave out batman and robin at the pub

One day I will take the turnoff to Hattah

Any fruit? Leave it in the fruit bat bin

Do you know Colignan is Nangiloc spelled backwards?

No more coat of many colours, my turn to choose the tunes

Past the big radio tower, nearly there

You’ll meet a few mallee boys and girls if you turn left to werrimull

There’s Big Lizzy

How do you say Irymple?  Wow, that’s a big orange

What’s in the fridge?

Did I tell you I was mistaken for a man??

In line the other day, a little boy started towards me “Dad, Dad”. Not sure who was most traumatised when I turned around.  I was going to grow my hair anyway.

A New Start

After some crazy weeks, I have realised I try to do too much, which ultimately results in the feeling of not getting as much done as you’d like.  I have the theory:

- Just Say “NO” (you will cope if you miss it, and people understand when you can’t go/come/do)

- Block out time for the BIG ROCKS (like hanging out with favourites, ”small things” like sewing, cleaning green stuff from bathroom - I’m not big on housework but I’m surprised no-one called Human Services)

- Stop Procrastinating

- and Prioritise!!!

Now, I just need to put it into practice.  Wish me luck.  I am also going to give this planning trick another go. I have been slappishdashishly planning my family’s weekly meals for a little while.  Road trips and general busy-ness has seen this fall off the wagon but we’re climbing back on board.  This is what we are having this week:

Tuesday : Chops with Fattoush Salad

Wednesday ; Marinated Chicken with Sweet Potato and Green Bean Salad

Thursday : Tacos

Friday : Tuna Bake (or Fish and Chips depending on how Friday arvo fronts up)

Saturday : Spaghetti Carbonara

Sunday : Leftovers.  And if none available, it might just have to be a certain curry company that brings my dinner right to my door.

Monday : I didn’t get to Monday but I would say something will turn up and I’ll be having one of the above that didn’t get a look in.

finally a FO..

a Finished Object:

As usual, an 11th hour rush for me with Damage catching train to bendigo on sat so he could drive while I finished stitching the binding.  Had to come via bendigo to catch last days of the Golden Age of Couture show, and to drop in on mates about to venture off around the great brown land in their F250.  Goods delivered at christening minus signature bit thing.  Which was great because the first hymn at the service was “Be Not Afraid” - tops bit of advice really so that’s now stitched and will be added asap.  I have also decided Not to Be Afraid.

Cinders

Like many 4 year old young ladies, my oldest daughter is into princesses.  She came to me with her cinderella story and wanted the dress.  Fortunately we have something similiar already so I copied the basic design of that and added a bit of puffiness.  Who would have thought I would be making princess dresses……  now the other kid wants Belle (from Beauty and the Beast for anyone not intimately familiar with the disney princess posse)
